Brief History
Brief history of the Arabic Baptist Church of Washington, D.C.

In the early 1960's, a handful of Arabic-speaking Christian believers met in homes around the D.C. metropolitan area for prayers and Bible study. Leading the group was a young couple, Esper & Jean Ajaj who were fresh out of Bible College. This small group faithfully met regularly and little did they know what God had in store for them in the years to come.

In 1967, by faith, they purchased a plot from a home builder, and worked with the builder to convert the house into the permanent home of what today is the Arabic Baptist Church of Washington, D.C. Under the leadership of Pastor Ajaj, the church building was expanded in 1980, 1985 and again in 2004.

Our purpose is to preach and teach the infallible Word of God and share the Gospel of Christ to Arabic-speaking people in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and beyond. Our weekly services; radio, cable and satellite television broadcasts; the Arabic magazine ("Al-Mashaal"); church-sponsored conferences, audio and video taped media; and the World Wide Web are the ministries that allow us to reach out for the cause of Christ.

Whether you live nearby, are visiting the Washington D.C. area or you are simply curious, we warmly invite you to visit us this Sunday. All are welcome!
